Cover Ups is a series of 21 transfer prints with acrylic ink. Each individual print depicts a photo of mine that has been transferred onto BFK paper and then is covered up selectively with acrylic ink(s). In this series, Cover Ups refer directly to street art cover ups. I was born and raised in Modesto, California where my first experience with public art was graffiti, murals and cover ups.
I’m fascinated by the movements of the paint tools used - the colors, textures and shapes involved – as well as the relationships created between those who add to these surfaces, those who cover up these additions and those that view it.
