Marisa Segovia (she/her/hers) is a Mexican, German, and Portuguese artist. She was born and raised in Modesto, CA. and has lived in Chico, CA for the past ten years. She has earned her BFA in Printmaking and BA in Art Education with a minor in Art History from CSU Chico.
Her practice is grounded in printmaking where she draws from personal history, community and the beauty of the everyday. Her work elevates overlooked moments and objects into meaningful visual narratives. Segovia’s current series centers on electric coffee machines from 1960–1990 - symbols of mid-century design, domestic ritual and cultural memory.
She combines traditional printmaking with the contemporary processes of SolarFast, a light-sensitive dye that develops color when exposed to sunlight, through photographic negatives she layers analog printmaking with photographic precision. The resulting imagery evokes both archival nostalgia and modern reinterpretation.
Segovia’s innovative approach honors craft traditions while introducing modern perspectives. Her work invites viewers to pause, remember, and find beauty in the familiar—bridging the space between memory, craft, and innovation.
